I went a little further than that and saw some story and decided to call it a night, so everything is saved cept those last couple fumas and elxir.

Someone had told me you could use weapons and items in battle for certain effects... ie a cure staff. When I tried this however, I can't seem to get items to work in battle at all.

Also it may just be me, but the genji armor seems to take extra damage from lightning. I put it on Kain at first, and he was a walking lightning rod... taking 1500-2000 dmg from blitz attacks from floating dragons(Ryu somethings...)
I upgraded him to dragon from that, when cecil got crystal, and put the genji on edge. Now edge gets zapped for 1500+ and kain gets 400~

and.. (SPOILER)Is there anyway to play as Yang, Cid, Palom, Porom, etc.... or is that only for tactics advance.?(After them leaving the party that is)

Lastly... I guess you can't help but browse some FF4 forums and not see tales about Pink tails. Well I looked into them a little... and wondered if the chronicles version has them in the same room as the SNES version.

ie (SPOILER)from the save point in the three doored building.. back up to the door.. then through that room.. exiting south.. then around the map there... up through a walkway between two treasures chests that fork to the left and right.. then appearing on a previous floor... there is a room to the right with a sole treasure chest on the right wall..

I've never heard of using weapons in battle in this game. I know that's an FF1 thing, but I don't know about this one.

If your personal tests confirm that the Genji Armor makes you weak to Lit, then go with that. I've never had an issue with that, mostly because enemies don't get a chance to use Lit on me. Cuz I rock.

I'll assume you mean FFIVAdvance. And no, there is way to customize your party in anyway in FF4. That was a feature that was added to FF4A just to spice things up a bit. Furthermore, (SPOILER)I fail to see the logic in Yang still being able to fight, after taking a blast from a cannon powerful enough to wipe out the entire Dwarven Kingdom., but they didn't ask what I thought about it.

Actually, there is a trick in the PSX version that makes it easier to land pink tails. You see, you can come across these items called "Alarms" (I believe) and they summon a random battle when you use them. If you use an Alarm in the Pink Tail room, you'll encounter some Pink Puffs. Actually acquiring a Pink Tail is still ridiculously uncommon.

From memory, it doesn't seem to me that you have right room. I don't remember a treasure chest being present in the Pink Puff room, but I haven't been in that room for about 2 years, so I may be off.

EDIT - No, you have the right room. My bad.

And a leveling tip for ya. The Dark Sages that attack in sets of 3 give excellent exp (on par with Behemoth and Red Dragons) and they're much easier and require much less healing and MP wasting. I fought about 10 million of those to get everyone at least to level 60. If you're at least 60, you can probably take the big baddie at the bottom of the moon.

Further reading/looking found that as far as I know... only Sentry/Alarm type enemies drop/steal alarms..... and well you can't exactly get back into the tower or any place with them at least that i've tried. So being that I have no alarms and am on the moon.. i'm guessing pink tails are a ultra rarity instead of a super rarity.
However I will level in the pinkpuff room for 10~ levels just to see a chance.

The only monsters that seem to appear in that room are Ryu(forgive spelling) of both kinds... King and Ging. and the Trickster.. at least that I saw. Though that was only about 50 battles.

I assume Dark Sage = Warlock(appears with Kary in Bahamut's place... and appears with a D. Bone in the moon often). Casts Fire2, Wind(reduce HP to single digits), and psych(steal MP)?

That's the guy. You'll have to forgive me, they're called "Dark Sage" in FF4A. You know the floor with the save point, the D. Lunars and Plague? If you go up the stairs to the left of the save point room, you'll be on the floor right above. On that floor, I seem to fight only Warlocks in sets of 3, over and over, with the occasional Ryu thrown into it. I usually enter the battle by having my meleers (Cecil, Kain and Edge) all attack a different Warlock, and then have Rydia summon Bahamut. Once they've all taken a hit and a Bahamut, they'll usually be dead. Because it's so close in proximity to the save point, it's easy to stock up on Cabins, and then just go use one when Rydia runs out of MP.

I'm contemplating having cecil do Cure2 group everyturn as well... however he still has flare which will hurt.
I got off about 3 bahamuts, and 3-4 attacks with cecil, before he just started stacking the big bangs and after a bang + flare took out rydia and then it was difficult to try to revive her and keep the others healed.

Reviving her with lifes(item) usually brought her into a big bang.. and well guess what.. she's dead again.

Eventually he got lucky and knocked someone else out... and it balloons from there.

Time to go get 10 more levels or so... or try to fight him with maybe only Cecil, Rydia and Rosa... Rosa's Cure4 would do about 2600? per character then... I'm guessing and as long as he didn't get a lucky flare in... they should stay alive longer.

Don't forget to have Edge throw stuff. If you got the Crystal sword from the wyrm, you can throw the Excalibur at him (assuming you got the excalibur from Kokol). And any other weapons you have, throw those too. You won't be needing them after this.

I believe that the cracking sound is the warning that a Big Bang is coming. You should have Rosa use Cure 4 anytime that cracking and flashing is going on.

A good thing to help with the curing is Asura. There is a chance that it will be lame and use Life1 on everyone, but it's even more likely to get a Cure3 or Cure4, healing around 3,000 a head.

Tried again at 62/62/64/62/60

He still beat me up pretty good.
Rosa has to Cure4 or Cure3 every turn.. period.. no matter what.. end of sentence... Rosa doesnt get the luxury of casting life2 or any other spell than group cure3/4.

Double big bang kills everyone but cecil and kain.. and then they die trying to revive others.

Zeromus even at a 5 speed rating(6 is slowest) still gets about 3 turns to Rosa's 1. This almost ensures at some point that he will get a double big bang inbetween Rosa's Cure4s. A double big bang at this HP level = death.

Edge threw excalibur and Knife, then died. Rydia summoned bahamut once, then died... 2800 hp vs 1700-2600 big bang = nope...
Kain lived for a while but died cause he cant be healed while jumping.
At one point it was just Cecil and Rosa, and rosa could keep up with the damage with just Cure3, but Cecil would need to kill ugly in 25~ attacks or less and im not sure his 4000 per round is enough.

When I get bored, I'm going to try it once more with just Cecil and Rosa, and no one else.... not sure how im going to work that to make sure the rest die and they dont. perhaps then I will have the speed and mana efficiency to last long enough to kill him.....
Speedy pain in the.. he is.

It's got nothing to do with his damage.. it's just my parties inability to take 2 big bangs and rosa's inability to fully heal 5 characters for a full big bang.. and Zeromus's insane speed to give him the ability to at some point get 2 big bangs in there.

Rydia now with 3300hp, Edge/Rosa at 3800, Cecil at 5000, Kain at 4700

Set it to slowest batspeed and msg speed.

And for some reason he didnt big bang this often this time.... He never killed more than 2 characters. Rydia summoned everyone back with a life1 asura late in the going.. and Rosa's cure4 augmented by Cecil's Cure2 with an elixir from edge or kain now and then to keep rosa alive. 5 bahamuts, 4-6 cecil attacks, throwing excalibur, fumas, and knife, and a few jumps from kain later...

Nice ending
He's still rather hard compared to any other FF end boss i've played besides possibly FF9.
FF1, 6-8, 10. Tactics had some really tough ones too though.

Now.... To try for the pink tail..... lvl to 99.... or .... switch to another game:

FFX(beaten... need to complete more of the sphere grid and beat Ultima Buster and the final monster arena fight)
FF6(I had gotten all the way to the final tower and had a save point just before... lvling up to get a little stronger as I was low 40s and getting my rear kicked a little.... then lost the save to corruption... so starting from scratch)
DQ8(finish getting my 99/99/93/99 party to 99 and maxing skills from stealing seeds or restarting a new game)
FF5 or FF2(havent started either)
or something else
