Trust you looks matter? Yes they do, but not always. Some people who dont grab my eye attractive wise have great personalities. People have different tastes to others. Edea fell for Cid, yeah hes no Johnny Depp, but she loved him.

While I agree with the personality thingy the real reason is mysterious.
Let me explain:

CID KramEr is the elder of Shumi Village which in turn is also VinZer DElINg (Winter Deling),Mayor DObE,rtc..

After the shumis left the village they will evolve.
The elder will evolve to these persons after Dr ODINE possesses him.
Actually we see one of these evolvings when we fight the fake president.Gerogero is in fact a shumi whose shoulder and arm get deformed after it grows (as it is expected from the information).
Edea is also possessed by the doctor and the marrying thing is a pretending thing,some false information to fed our characters up when Ellone(Rinoa) activate their memory.
Read my threads about WOTC to understand how can Cid show on FF8 before the elder left the village.

Cid ownes the Garden he is probably a rich man and Edea is simply trying to get all the money to herself after that fat loser dies.

You know what i bet that´s why she became a sorceress too...Ultimecia didn´t really control her ohhhhhh no she just used her as an excuse to try and kill Cid and get his money that big ****.

Cid seems like a nice guy to me, what's the problem? Final Fantasy sure is a topsy-turvy beast Peeps find Cid and Edea's relationship too out there, but not summoning a huge dragon out of the sky. Reminds me of "Cloud could never lift a sword that big," but dropping magical balls into his body and casting magic was always fine.
