Thread: Intangirs Really the Best for Magic Training?

Default Intangirs Really the Best for Magic Training?

I fight an Intangir for 10 magic points every 5 fights or so. They're not common at all, at least for me. When I don't fight an Intangir I don't get any magic skill improvement. If we assume that I get at least 10mp every 5 battles it averages out to 2mp a fight.

I can fight battles on the Vector Continent and get a guarunteed 2mp a fight. Sometimes 3mp. So if we assume I get an equal number of 2mp and 3mp battles (and it works out pretty close to that from my experience) I get 10mp every 4 battles. The minimum I can get in 5 battles would be 10 and the most would be 15.

So are Intangirs still the best MP for my effort? It doesn't look like it, at least right now.

It's all up to the player. Intagnirs don't appear too often, as you pointed out, so I usually just fight on the Floating Continent in the WoB. For the WoR, Cactuars are the obvious choice however.

Well, I just finished with the MagiTech Factory (SPOILER)and that whole messy business with Celes vanishing with Kefka and the Guards in a poof of light and magic

So, yeah right now it seems like the 2 and 3 point fights are my best bet. Not only do I get my butt kicked less (Meteos Hurts) but I can Steal some useful stuff in between AE Attacks.

Don't worry about magic too much that early in the game. Learn a few key spells and keep moving. Like perviously stated, Cactuars in the WoR are the way to go for learning Magic.

I usually just magic grind in the Fanatic's Tower. I think it's slighly quicker and less tedious.

Unless your just really liking magic there's no great need to spend time learning magic at all. Just make sure everyone in your party has an esper equiped and you'll learn everything you need as you go along.

I consider the Intangirs to be the best Magic Point source in the WoB. I encountered them fairly often, at least every 3 battles. They are easy to kill. All you have to do is cast Doom and they're done, just have to watch out for Meteo. That shouldn't be too much of a problem though, if it is just cast Shell on the Doom caster. It tends to miss almost half of the time anyway. The other thing that I like is that Intangirs don't give any Experience so you don't have to grossly over-level your team to learn magic.

I like intangirs too, because I can kill the other annoying things really fast with fast-forwarding. I've always liked learning a lot of spells before going to the WoR.

Where do you fight Cactaurs in WoR? I've been fighting Tyranosaurs and Brachiosaurs!

The desert south of Maranda. There are also Hoovers there, but they give decent Experience and Magic Points and are easy to kill if you finish it off quickly.

If you just wear anti-wind equipment, Hoovers are easy. If not, they can be a bit of a pain in the arse because of their sandstorm attack. Don't ever put on an ice shield, cause it doubles wind damage, making you a really easy target. Thunder shields nullify wind, and i think fire shields halve wind. Can't be too sure though.

I just do the Vanish + Doom method for Hoovers because my levels are only around 30-35 right now. (SPOILER)Having to find everyone in the WoR is really a pain in the ass.
