    Actually, considering that Japanese often uses a B to represent a V sound, it could be intended as Aves, which is Latin for birds.
    But they play underwater. Why name an underwater team after something that usually flies?

    I always thought "Abes" was sort of like "Apes". As for Goers, I thought they're people who go, as in, walk, so I guess it's a bit like Walkers.

    An Abe...heh, good question. As for the team that the Zanarkand Abes played against in the opening FMVl the Zanarkand Duggles, I have no idea what a Duggle would be either...?!?

    A Duggle is a small, migratory amphibian having disproportionately large and colorful pectoral fins (in the males) used to attract mates. The most commonly known Duggle is the Heart-Faced Duggle (named for the shape of its head) found in the waters off of Western Australia.

    It's fun to make stuff up...
