In my opinion, VIII surpasses VII in every way because VII reused so many things of VI while VIII was completely new, and tried different things. VIII tried to be different, and most people loath it. Now With XII and XIII they do so many new things, and people love them? Weird. Oh well, each on his own opinion and you explained it very nicely. Good points for ya.
