They are genii (plural of genius)! You can't really do comedy on television without dumbing some of it down...I think their movies were where they really shined.
The Twit Olympics was hilarious.... "He's run himself over with the car!"
One that comes to mind from "The Meaning of Life" is where Death pays the dinner party a visit. Everyone asks, "How did we all die at the same time?" Death points ominously to the salmon mousse, and the woman says: "Hey! I didn't eat the mousse!"
