I just started catching up to heroes today by watching a few episodes online and I was startled when I witnessed the new plot twist. This wasn't because it surprised me, but that I immediately noticed that It was the exact same plot twist from the Greatest graphic novel of all time: Watchmen. I am a huge comic geek, and surely like the masses of other watchmen fans we were laughing at the depths Tim Kring's writing team went for a supposedly "original" plot.
In Heroes the Casino Owner Mr. Linderman, a very rich and now retired hero reveals that he is behind the planned explosion in New York in hopes that it will unite the world. In watchmen, written twenty years earlier, a retired and very rich superhero named Adrien Veidt (Ozymandias) reveals that he was behind an attack on New York which killed millions in hopes of uniting the world and distract from the current cold war. Aside from this, the Character Sylar's origin is not unlike that of Dr. Manhattan; in which, they both happened to have been young watchmakers before receiving their powers.
This plot twist resemblance is far too similar to be unnoticed. I am worried that it may make many believe that the soon to be made Watchmen movie is in fact stealing from Heroes. Did anybody else notice this as clearly as I have, does this fact not bother anybody as much as it does to me?
