I have been around since the beginning of D1 of course <3. I watched them both evolve. It's just that they implement a lot of new ideas, but never to make certain things easier when I know they could. 1.11 is a completely different game than the 1.00 (and not all due to the expansion), but they still won't put in an xfering system. It wouldn't be that hard at all and then I wouldn't have to bug other people to help me do it. They won't do it for the same reason you said: they've been trying to make it about "item management" since the beginning. They've even said they want to force players to pick and choose what they keep and don't. But when people have been getting around it for this long with mules, it's time to just let it go.
As for runs, I'd rather they just be unhappy about it then go for the whole "good drops on the first kill and then never again"...thing. So I'll just let it go. Although, that's just for items; I want them to nerf the experience. If Baal was gone, people would simply get together and run from the beginning of Act-5 to the end as an 8-person group. This would make the builds much more even and the characters all have more of a purpose rather than it being a bunch of Hammerdins and then you. If that's all I wanted to do, I'd make a simulator where I stand in a red room and watch a white bar slowly fill itself over and over. In fact, considering the time it takes to find a good baal game in Hell, it would probably work out to twice the experience in the long-run to just get together and play through Act-5 in its entirety, but what do I know.
I can dream of things that won't happen...and I shall. Dreams of patches never to come.
I'm making a Javazon. It's the first Amazon I've done without the magic line of skills, including Decoy and Valkyrie. They sure gave Lightning Fury some hella high synergies. Of coure, I'm really doing all the synergies for a badass Charged Strike.
