Actually, I have not made a Vengeance Paladin on Battle.net since 1.07. I have however, made a Zeal Paladin, and a Fist of the Heavens Paladin.

Vengeance can either go Balanced, or try to focus more on any single element. Due to the massive amounts of duping on Closed Realms, your only option is to make whatever can kill the fastest, and can reach closer to the damage cap. This is reflected in the Aura synergies of Vengeance.

Vengeance (20)
Resist [insert element here] (20), or Salvation (20)
Conviction (20)
Fanatcism (optional 20)

Strength: enough to use equipment (may vary).
Dexterity: none, unless you plan on getting Max Block Rate, which could save you more often than not
Vitality: none, that Red Orb at the bottom is pointless
Energy: all! YOU NEED MANA FOR MELEE LOLOLOLOL

This'll leave about 20 skill points for pre-requisites, and Holy Shield. Stats is the standard build.

Ultimately, you'll have very few equipment options. At the end of the game, you need whatever you can get your filthy hands on that makes your elemental damage higher. Chances are, you will most likely be using Baranar's Star, or Runemaster Ettin Axe. I believe that I have a Baranar's on Ladder.

Baranar has the 1-200 damage of element (all three supported by Vengeance), which is good, and the Strength requirement without needing Dexterity (44). The weapon itself has a 50% IAS. However, Runemaster has the greatest customization options, having 3-5 sockets. You could boost damage by sticking in Ral, Tal, or Thul; you can even pump up IAS using Shael (20% IAS).

Runeword options are Beast, Ber Tir Um Mal Lum, which has the Fanatcism Aura that you so desperately need. Cresent Moon, Shael Um Tir, is particularly useful if you are making a Lightning based Vengeance Paladin. Helm could use Dream, of which we are familar with. Your shield, well, Spirit, HoZ, Exile, are all good flavors. Anything useful. Gloves, Boots, Amulet, and Rings are the standard drill.

Do note, however, that I have a pair of Dracul's Grasp Gloves. You may take them if you wish, for the incredibly valuable Life Tap proc. But to make real use of this, you need some wicked sick Attack Speed, or the Block Rate to prevent life from going bye-bye in one shot.

Armor should be Fortitude, Guardian Angel Templar Coat, or CoH. I'm sure you can look up what fits you the most, Runeword-wise.
