In my country, Soda is a soft drink mixed with vanilla ice cream

We call what you call "pop" or "soda" soft drinks.

Pop sounds seriously idiotic to me, and soda, is the afore mentioned mixed drink. However, at least soda doesnt sound absolutely stupid
