Jumbo Cactuar

I know about the ability to fight Cactuars after Garden is mobile, but I've heard that you can fight Jumbo Cactuar at that time too. I spent some time learning abilities on Cactuars shortly after Garden became Mobile, but I never figured out how to fight Jumbo Cactuar since he never popped out of the sand for me in that area.

Was I just really unlucky, or is there some kind of trick to engaging him that early in the game?

You can't land on that island with the garden because there is no grass there, so no. You'll have to wait for the ragnarok.

I think you are confused Levian. You dont actually have to land on the island to fight the Cactuars. However the area in which you CAN fight the Cactuars near the island I've never had Jumbo pop up on before

EoFF guide seems to imply that you CAN fight Jumbo Cactuar there tho

There is a bug in the game that expands the area of the Cactuars a little too far, so you can fight them right on the edge of the continent. As some know, Cactuars are THE way to get AP, and defeating the Jumbo Cactuar will give you another GF. This is a great trick.

I've fought the Cactuars before, easy place to find. But I've never seen Jumbo pop up there. I'm asking if this information is incorrect, or if I'm just not getting lucky by him not popping up for me

Oh, that's news to me, but it was discovered by Citizen Bleys, so it's probably true. Most FAQ's on gamefaqs.com didn't mention this at all, but I found one secrets FAQ that did. But I assume it is pretty unlikely to run into a Jumbo Cactuar since it's a bug and all.

I was afraid of that. All those Stat Bonus abilities so early in the game.. *shudder*
