    Default Death Metal

Brutal, technical, melodic [even though it is not considered to be connected with DM], extreme, blackened & progressive death metal are all welcome to be talked about here aswell.

*I can't be bothered with all that "Just call it death metal, there's no point in all these genres.." and such. I've never heard more rubbish than somehting like that.

So putting aside that rabble who here on this forum listens to death metal / any of the fused genres / subgenres above? & what do you most like about it?

    Also:
What are your favourite bands of this genre? Or the ones you enjoy listening / headbanging to most?
Any particular musicians from DM you really like?
Are you thinking of getting into a DM band?
Are you in a DM band?

Here are a few bands I really like from the above subgenres of DM:

    [*=Favourites]

    *Malavolent Creation
    Hate Eternal
    Insision
    Bloodbath
    *Cannibal Corpse
    *Death
    Nile
    *Decapitated
    *Cryptopsy
    Ackercocke
    *At the Gates
    Children of Bodom
    Arch Enemy
    Behemoth
    Decide
    *Immolation
    Necrophagist
    Six Feet Under
    Suffocation

I don't mind people who don't like DM coming in here & putting their opinion in the thread as to why they don't like it, but only if you back up your opinion. No point in having an opinion if you can't back it up...

Amazing subgenre of metal, certainly the most physically demanding. I absolutely love Stargazer mostly. Best band from the style.

I tend to prefer black metal though.

To me, the death metal bands that really stand out are Arch Enemy and Children Of Bodom. Melodic Death Metal really stands out from Death Metal as a whole, which is why it's my favorite form of Death Metal.

I also like Six Feet Under, Cannibal Corpse, and Morbid Angel.

Yeah. Opeth are Doom Metal. Apparently.

Anyway, I don't like strict Death Metal, although Black Metal is good. Dimmu Borgir are amazing. How can a fat guy drum so fast?

I hear clear death metal influences on the Deliverance album and they are there on most albums, just not as prominently. I am perfectly aware of what death metal is, I am well acquainted with Opeth's music and I certainly did not write "progressive death" by mistake.

I like Children of Bodom alot. Not really sure what else I listen to that would be considered death metal, I usually don't pay attention to genre's. I just listen to it and if it sounds good, all the better

My bad, told ya I really don't pay attention to genres . I just try listening to it and if I like it then I get into it. Genres just really matter that much to me.

Progressive death still is wrong. They are progressive metal with harsh vocals. Even ask the UM people about it.

Yeah, as stated before CoB isn't death metal, however Arch Enemy isn't death metal either. Melodic Death as you are refering to it is called melo-death, and is closer in relation to power metal than death metal. True melodic death metal is death metal bands with more apparant melodies than typical death metal, i.e. Stargazer, Kronos, Anata, etc.
