Anyways, I don't think its needed all the time, like stated above, it depends on the poll, but in cases where you have more than the given amount of options, than one should be other so it can be anything and the person filling it out can put what they want, and be more specific when they post about what they chose.
They should have an option where they send the millionth voter a PM saying:
Dear Sirs or Madame,
You are recieving this private message to inform you that you voted on the "Should Polls have other options" thread and were the 1000th voter. Have a sad life!
