Perhaps I can convert you into a prog rock fan Sapphire Star. This site has free streaming samples of some of my favourite bands, and I've compiled a list of samples of some bands. For each link scroll down to the grey box and play them. Be warned that it's all very expirimental.

Pink Floyd Best one: Time. (This selection is really not a very fair view of the band. If you want a good sampler ranging through the whole discorgaphy of the band, get this best of.)

Emerson Lake and Palmer Best one: Hoedown

Frank Zappa Best one: Peaches en Regelia

King Crimson Best two: 21st Century Schizoid Man, Cirkus

So maybe not the songs I would have chosen for the best samples of the artists, but if you like what you hear let me know. And, if you're really interested, I have some more uploaded on my PC right now, and I could send you some more (PM me your email and I can attach them). Or you can look for some of the albums in your music store. The site also has reviews for literally every prog rock album in existence, and they're all fairly informative. Exact information is available if you want to try out an album.
