OK, here's approximately the second original model I've ever come up with. As you can see, the quality is a bit lacking compared to the stuff that's published in books, but this is hopefully recognizable, at least. I am proud of it regardless. Folded from a 4 inch square of tissue-foil.
(You have no idea how hard it is to get this thing to stand at that angle.)

Thanks. There are books with detailed instructions how to make these. The praying mantis is from the book Origami Insects 2 by Robert Lang. There are also origami clubs in many major cities all over the world. I do teach at the local origami club sometimes.
This is a goblin with a sword, by Nicolas Terry. Folded from an 18 inch square of tissue foil. He doesn't have much in the way of eyes. Just a big brow, which you can't see because of the angle I took the pictures from. And I messed up the top of his head a bit. He does have 4 fingers on each hand which is neat. And those are supposed to be two big fangs sticking out of his mouth.
