Best Love Story

Now, drawing on my own experience in the FF series, I rank Zidane/Garnet as the best love story because each of them had plots independent of that love story. It was not the immediate "zomg I love you!" of Aeris/Cloud or Tifa/Cloud or Yuna/Tidus. The fact is that both of them had to grow before they could love one another, venturing apart and discovering themselves. Rinoa only ever existed in FFVIII to be Squall's love and to be in that story. She had no other purpose until the horrible plot twist of her being a sorceress. Aeris spent most of her screentime falling over and flirting with Cloud and Tifa was the same, but kept it hidden.

Zidane's and Garnet's romance was perfection.

Pretty much. But I'd rank Cloud/Aerith/Tifa second. I don't think Cloud's relationship (s) were anything like 'zomg i love you!1one' like Squall/Rinoa or Tida/Yuna. His relationship with Aerith actually grew from cute flirting and Tifa was his 'childhood friend', so it isn't like either of them just began making out in a glittering ethereal pond like somebody else.

it's fine for us to debate which FF romance was the best but I think FF fans need to stop throwing hate at other titles so they can justify liking another one. It just adds negativity to the board community and the series in general.

I like VIII's the best because it was probably what drove the story. It took Rinoa to change Squall's introvertedness and at the same time, alot of different things were revealed in the plot for that purpose.

FFIX's that game's story was SO underrated and the love story intertwined perfectly.

VIII's love story Fanboys/girls piss me off! The love story didn't add together right, one moment he didn't care about her, the next moment he's all like "I WILL SAVE YOU!" then BOOM! On the Ragnork he don't care again!

i agree. i mean, its normal for a girl to fall in love with a cool SEED or a SOLDIER. but for a clumsy happy guy like zidane to fall in love with a serious princess...now thats a good love story. and plus, i like the idea of a low class thief falling in love with a high class princess. cant get any better. really shows that opposites attract.

zidane and dagger.thief and princess.fugitive and royalty.talk about opposites.and the fact that they were explicitly shown to end up with each other only makes it nicer.that's probably what cloud and tifa was missing.

Well...Zidane and Garnet i agree...so is Squall and Rinoa...and Tidus and Yuna isn't bad either...and Cloud and Aerith is a little lame...Cloud and Sephiroth...damn lame...Cloud and Tifa...is nice although the plot of how they like each other is not inserted in the game...Tidus 1st eye already tell us he liked yuna...so..that explains...thier plot

The true friendship style love story of FFIX was my favorite of the FF love stories. It wasn't over the top, IMHO, and it wasn't all hugging and kissing and cheesy moments, and I really liked it how Zidane and Garnet kept supporting each other at hard times.

id have to say FF8. the characters are interesting and believeable and i just think the love story works extremely well in FF8 and has some truly romantic scenes.

FFVII was interesting with how you could alter the results by making different choices and FF9's was sort of funny and very good but i prefer FF8s.
