NO
About a year ago IGN had a small post in their mag that with the compilation on FFVII they may consider the same treatment with FFVI.
i was gonna say the exact same thing, they looked amano-ish, and capturing scenes from the game (like the Narsh soldiers shooting their rifles at the Magitek Armor) were great.
A remake of VI could be a great thing, and I think most will agree. But there will undoubtedly be something missing from the 2d atmosphere that will never return to gaming.
Honestly, I don't see the problem with Sakaguchi and Uematsu leaving. yes, it is his series, but sakaguchi hasn't had as much of an impact on the FF series since V, save for the theme of Life & Death that became a standard them in the series w/ VII.
Also, I think Uematsu's true genius was with the MIDI-or-whatever-they-were sounds from the first 7 games. From VIII on, the soundtracks were amazing, but it's not the same type of music that you want in a kick-ass videogame.
