I would believe they're just there to make those who are playing the game for the first time, waste their time and money trying to breed a gold chocobo with the wrong nuts. It's to make the chocobo quest more difficult, but fails horribly, since everyone has a friend that tells them or they go get a walkthrough, or go onto a forum.
