Str8 Pimpin'
I personally think FF7's Cloud had the tallest mountain. He had to deal with so many demons, and face his REAL self, and had to overcome he wasn't even really himself, he stole an entire identity, and had to face it, and had to defeat one of his greatest friends, and was guilty for taking Zack's credit for his actions...
*SPOILERS!*
Cloud had to go through a lot, such as the guilt of failing to protect the one he cared for (Tifa), seeing his hometown being burned and his family killed by the one he admired the most, having to kill that person after being stabbed badly by him, going through Jenova experiments, losing his identity, starting to think he's a failed Sephiroth clone, seeing Aeris die before his eyes after he almost killed her himself, feeling major guilt about Aeris' death and then injected by Geostigma.
However, I think Ramza from FF Tactics also went through a lot. His oldest brother did some really evil things and turned into a demon who he had to kill. He also had to kill his other brother to release him from a zombie curse or something, and his sister was used by the demons to resurrect their leader. He got everyone to hate him: Larg's forces, Goltana's forces and the Glabados church, while he was having to fight the demons, and Delita plain used him and everyone else to become a king. Ramza saved the world only to have it all forgotten in history and his family name disgraced. The only one (outside the party members) who trusted him was Olan Durai, and he was later arrested and burned for knowing the truth about Ramza's actions.

Yeah, Ramza had it bad, and I wouldn't want to be him.
