Whoever mentioned Brazil - agreed completely.

And The Fifth Element is OK until Chris Tucker enters the scene - his character is godawful and completely derails the film.

    -Logan's Run
    -Blade Runner
-Planet of the Apes (the original version, not the remake - don't watch the sequels either, the first one is the best and the sequels are all very disapointing)

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is pretty great for a spacefaring film. If you go in with an open mind, or, better yet, go in having never read the books, it's really great.

Just saw Serenity for the first time today, really good movie. Other than that I would have to say The Thing. Pretty sick stuff (imo) for its time.

Finally someone with some sense! I really don't get why annoying, obnoxious, and idiotic characters are such a big draw.

Fifth Element was a good movie, and that crapfest called Chris Tucker plays a small part in the overall scheme of things.

The Sci-Fi channel, as far as I'm concerned, has produced one original feature of worth: "Frank Herbert's Dune." **Note: make sure NOT to watch the '80's version...it was a travesty!

Blade Runner has already been mentioned, but Blade Runner should be mentioned again!

"Legend" was on TV just the other day. So I watched it for the first time in a long while. It could be considered a bit cheesy, but it's got the whole fantasy recipe in spades: young hero who tries to rescue the princess from the devil character with the aid of imps and faeries and dwarves etc. after one of the last two surviving unicorns has been slain. Oh and Tom Cruise (1984 version), Tim Curry, and I can't remember the princess' name.

Big Trouble in Little China: definitiely a classic!

Escape from L.A.---utter crap! (Snake McPatch-Eye playing hoops in leather boots and surfing the sewers!??)

Brian: "If I remember correctly, this is the Physics Department."
Chris: "That would explain all the gravity."

    ***EDIT***

    I didn't know logan's run was a TV show ... LMAO ! I just thought it was a awsome movie !
Hitchikers guied was awsome book series ... i didn't like the spin off series or movies .
I think planet of the apes is realllllllly great (with Charlton Heston) Not the crappy remake >.<
I really liked the tv shorts like "Tales from the Darkside" and so on.

Chuck Noblet: Can anyone tell me the tragic irony of the Trojan War? Tina? Tina: Um, that horses are friendly creatures yet a hollow, wooden one was used to destroy Troy? Chuck Noblet: Wrong and no. Anyone else? Chip? Chip: That the mighty warrior Achilles was killed by a small cut to his ankle. Chuck Noblet: Chip is wronger. OK, here it is. The tragic irony of the Trojan War is that though it was fought over Helen, who was young and beautiful, by the time they rescued her ten years later, she was old and ugly. Tina: But wasn't recovering the king's wife reward enough for the Greeks? Chuck Noblet: Tina, an ugly woman is never a reward.

As mentioned above, 1984 doesn't do the book justice, but A Clockwork Orange is just brilliant.
