Go to a shop, select sell. Now, press right until you see loot. Sell everything thats worth less than 300 gil (if it's worth more, it's probably necessary for a quest later), and don't sell your teleport stones.

You'll usually have enough to get by if you just sell all the loot you've acquired while running around in the field. If you need a boost, though, try fighting the skeletal enemies in the Lhusu Mines. They come out by the dozens and yield Bone Fragments, which are worth 193 gil apiece, which adds up fast.

Oh yes! I got a chain going of around 150 there! Those skeletons are great. If the skeletons stop appearing on that second bridge area, just go hang out in another area of the Lhusu Mines and then return, and they'll start spawning like crazy again (but don't break the chain!).

Succulent Fruits are one of the best things to sell earlier in the game. They are worth 363 gil each, and you can aquire them very easily. You get them from Alraunes while visiting the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea. Oh, and make sure you do the Bhujerban Madhu sidequest when you get the chance, because that's an easy 14,000 gil right there.

Yeah and make sure like Cruise Control said, if it's expensive, like that, make sure it's not needed later. While in the Mines and you happen to face the Nidhogg in the Hunt Quest, don't sell the Loot "Great Serpentskin" that you get from him. It's used in teh Patient in the Desert sidequest later on.
