Less Than Jake. Honestly, their actual songwriting has improved, I give them full credit for that, but with the disappearance of the horns and trumpets from their stuff, their poor guitar playing is really shown up. Their songs tend to sound much the same now, which is really unfortunate, since during their ska punk era, they were utterly awesome.
The Offspring are another band I have issues with their later albums, but I can kinda understand where they're going. I mean, when they started, they were still bitter and angry, whilst now they're living the good life and everything's sweet for them. It's hard to stay pissed off at the world when everything goes your way. But then, look at NOFX. 23 years, and they get better every album, still making great music and sticking to their punk roots. Having said that, Splinter did have some damn good songs on it. It's far from impossible for them to keep up the quality and shift into a different genre somewhat.
And here's where I'll stay / For ten years and a day
We're on a quest to find hidden treasure / And mystery on The Wild Sea
