The Midgar-part had an AMAZING ambience! Now, if only the characters would have been better...
And the part in Shinra mansion in Nibelheim? This last time I played it through, I noticed that the first, passive, form of Sephiroth's theme passed over to the 'choral' thing at the exact moment Seph went berserk. All the way up to that point, an ill-boding ambience... And then... WHAM the chorals whack you over your head! [A neat line-up of expletives] FANTASTIC!

Taking all that in account, I can understand why people say FF7 is an utterly great game. And, indeed it is a great >game<, it's just that it's... sort of not an utterly great RPG. (So I happen to like Torment, sue me.) I think you'd have to understand my view on what RPGs are to restrain the flaming, so... e-mail flaming is A-1 BETTER!
