I recently bought Guitar Hero for the PS2....and seriously, its easily one of the best things I've bought this year.

Brings hours of enjoyment and its one of those games that you find yourself wanting to get home asap to play

Oh yeah, Guitar Hero and its recently released sequel are awesome. They don't have it in Japan though, so if they want their semi-realistic guitar fix this is up their alley.
Guitar Hero lacks a 'free play' mode where you can just do whatever you want. It is just an arcade game anyway, can't expect to have that kind of depth.
