Long name huh.
How do you think smilies should be used? I prefer slipping one in here and there for really emphesis. When I see smilies used like this![]()

It kind of takes away from their affect.

A smilie should be the metaphoric icing on the cake; used sparing in the post and at the end.![]()
Image-based emoticons should die in a dirty, radioactive fire.
I love smiliesThey should be everywhere!

Actually, that's the first time I've used them on this board, that I can recall, because they never seem to be able to depict what I want to say. But I think they'd be fun enough in casual posting, assuming the author has a point to make with them.
Or, of course, if the author has no point to make with them.
Sometimes I smilie too much. Sometimes I smilie not enough. Moderation is...hard to achieve.

I tend to use smilies when I'm being "cute" whilst talking to ladies online, but that's about it. I do sometimes use them to post but usually to express myself more clearly. For example this; :moose: doesn't serve any other purpose than to add flair. I don't need flair. Hence it doesn't get used.
There is no signature here. Move along.
An attention-seeking smiley, you say?
Edit: oh well, you'll have to click on it, sorry
I don't use them that often, and very rarely more than 1 at a time. But I think the basic ones like smile, frown, grin etc are very important especially when what you say can be misinterpreted without a facial expression.
Example:
"You complete goit." <-- offensive
"You complete goit" <-- playful
Such emotion.
Such a powerful dispaly of sadness.
Such simpleness.
...
:chef: can be used to show any emotion
