I really don't have a huge opinion on serious matters such as these. I will say, however, that I agree with fire_of_avalon in the sense that it should mostly be a joint decision between both the people responsible. Just looking at this topic brings my Fun Level down a good four points.
I am pro-life. And nearly like what FOA said, but, I think it should be discussed between all three people involved.
I remember a while back some chick made a blog called “Stop my Abortion” where she demanded pro-lifers donate her $40 grand by the third trimester or she would abort her foetus. I think they got to something like $37 grand before the time ran out, so she had it expunged and posted pictures. Hilarious.
My stance on abortion is thus: I don’t care. I mean sure, it would be nice if people would be a little more open minded on this issue but ultimately it’s never going to effect me. I’m a guy so I’m not going to get pregnant and if I ever knocked up some chick I would have pushed her down the stairs before it ever became an issue. Doesn’t mean I won’t take sides for lols though.
Pro-choice until the fetus/baby can either breathe on its own or have a developed-enough respiratory system to allow a machine to breathe for it. Obviously women shouldn't be aborting in the last trimester unless her life is in danger, but then again I'm not a woman and will never be in that position, so my opinion on the matter is greatly diminished. I'm also rather weary of the state controlling someone's body.
I agree with a lot of what foa said. Although with possibly more reservations.
I feel so strongly against people who use abortion as a form of birth control that I just... aarrrgh. They should be punished or something! I mean, gaah! I get so upset when I hear about girls getting their third, fourth, fifth abortions and they just go on having uprotected sex. It's like, YOU STUPID HEAD, STOP THAT! I have to remind myself that it's not my problem, but it still pisses me off.
If you can't handle the consequences of having sex, don't have sex. Or use protection. It's not that hard. I mean, jeez, places like Planned Parenthood give away birth control pills/patches/rings at almost no cost. And the Emergency Contraceptive Pill is pretty readily available so "the condom broke" isn't even a good excuse anymore.
Sheesh.
More than anything I'd advocate safe sex practices so that it doesn't even get to the point of needing an abortion.
Exactly. I am pro-choice completely, but I cannot stand people who do that. It's disgusting. The only thing though is that you just can't pick which people can get an abortion, and which can't, if it's legal. And that's why I'm just simply pro-choice. I hate the term. I hate being lumped into Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice, because I hate that term "Choice." I mean, what the heck? pro Choice? How many choices do you want? You chose to have sex, you chose to do it unprotected, you generally chose to do it with the knowledge that sex causes babies. Why should a baby die because you want to have multiple choices.
I'm Anti-Multiple Choice.
But, seriously, I'd say that "Abortion" is the softest practical term anybody could come up with for "Baby Killin.'"
There is a scenario where I would accept abortion, but it's only because I have certain beliefs that allow for a sin to be committed. That ios, I would abort a child if it was the result of rape. But that's about it.
People like to pretend that birth control is 100% effective.
We do. It's only 99% effective.
that's 1 in 100 with a million people having sex every day. Put together, it doesn't make things feel secure.
I'm also a proponent of abstinence, but i know that that's an impossible thing to try and push on people. But 5 year olds don't have sex. They're children. Adults have sex. And adults are supposed to be adults.
If you can't handle a situation without killing a bunch of babies, then you don't deserve the title of adult, and you don't deserve the precarious privilage of sex. Sorry. I can't see any other way around this, except to say that children shouldn't be having sex.
I guess that means I'm "Against a Woman's Right to Choose."
Coincidentally, I wouldn't vote for Hilary Clinton, so I'm probably against women's right to vote and all that too.
