III over 1 and II, don't know.... havent played III

VI over IV and V... I could argue on IV a little but I have less experience playing VI and its only on that slow as molasses playstation.(no offense meant to playstation... seems i worded this wrong.. just the game runs HORRIBLY on PS)....

IX over VII and VIII, amen.

XII over X and X-2 or X and XI, whichever you want to say is not a true FF game, X-2 or XI both work I hear.... oh and XII looks to be better than both.
