    Default CCD vs CIS

My scanner is the oldest piece of hardware I have in use at this time (I don't remember if I got it in 2000 or 2001 xD) and it's really big and heavy and has super usb1.1 slowness(it's a HP Scanjet 4300c and cost $120 when I bought it brand new and fades everything out terribly)

Anyways, apparently there's this new-fangled thing called CIS, which uses less power but seems to have poorer image quality?

I was hoping one of you could shed light, or more importantly, images on the subject.

(I was sorta liking the Canon LiDE 25, even if it doesn't use usb2. also, they must play nice with os x )

    You basically answered your question.

CIS is Contact Image Sensing and involves lower power and lower image quality then a typical CCD (Charge-coupled device).

I was hoping someone had examples of just how bad this "lower quality" is. If it's just color correction I can do that easily and probably would anyways. But if they're all blurry looking, then that's something else.
