Who in here, besides myself, thinks this is a very stupid one. It's diffenally not the worse. But it's not good either.<sign> They don't make FF games like they use to.

i'm a little dissapointed but generally like it so far.. though i regret paying 60$ for the collector's edition. i actually haven't played it in a few days due to leveling boredom.

From playing the demo only... it seems better than VII and VIII, equalish to IX, better than X, perhaps equal/less than IV and VI.
/shrug.
It has some bumps I don't like, but overall I think it's rather great.
Once again, I must say the "they don't make them like they used to" argument is odd to me. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it isn't a perfectly quality game many will love.
COLOR="Lime"]What are you people talking about?! FFXII is awesome. Don't get me wrong the other classic FF's are bad ass too, but FFXII is better than the others because they made the combat like MMO sensibilities but rather in a single-player framework. Also the in-game movies are visually awesome![[/COLOR]
Why don't you come down to, funkytown?!?!
I'm thoroughly enjoying it. About 27 hours in now, and it's probably my fourth favorite in the series behind IX and VI and VII. I think I'll eventually enjoy it more than VII, though, because the combat is so much easier and more enjoyable, and the story is a politically-charged masterpiece compared to a confusing but semi-typical Japanese plot. I mostly love VII for the nostalgia factor.![]()
/shrugs. The opinion is open to change. Just how i feel from the "15min demo"
*note.. these are my opinions.. not saying this is a review of the masses, hence I thought I was open to feel how I wanted /shrug*
FFVII and FFVIII faded very quickly for me after their initial "hype"
FFIX is still well liked, FFIV and FFVI which I still have to replay after losing my save after the phoenix cave.
It's not like that's a super accurate placing of the game, nor will it be permanent. Just that I dislike VII and VIII heavily now, where I did like them a little when first played... and yet I still like IX, IV, and VI, as well as I. X seemed very nice while playing but is losing its appeal to me alot now.
So placing it ahead of my dislikes, equal to or behind my likes.... is bad?
Sorry if it upset you![]()
I'm relieved that someone else is less than ga-ga over this game. I'm ~ 2/3 of the way through and have found the story and character development to be seriously lacking: the only character I find at all interesting is Balthier, and the only story sequence I think I've really enjoyed is when (SPOILER)the party travels to Archades for the first time. Although the technical gameplay (battle system, graphics, etc) is better than anything that has come before (while remaining true to traditional FF gameplay), I think that the character/story quality is significantly lower than FFX, to say nothing of FFVI.
However I'm hoping that the final 1/3 of the game will prove me wrong.
i agree with u on everything here, im one dungeon away from the ending.. and feel that this game lacks in story big time... i mean you have so many characters with stupid accents that i sometimes cant pick up... to me this story is the worse story out of all the FF's, but the game play is a lot better than the other FF's.
When i first started this game i thought the story would rock, but it ended up being kind of boring to me... definetly gonna give it a F for the story.
I usually don't make a decision about an FF until after my second play thru, except for FFVII and X which both thoroughly disappointed me. I don't feel it's the greatest in the series but I feel, so far, that it is a game that comes quite refreshing.
It breaks a lot of norms, and I feel that the series has become rather stagnant as of late. This is the fresh breath of air I've been waiting for. It's far from perfect and perhaps it will not be as popular as FFVI and VII are, but if the other SE employee's (especially Nomura, who has destroyed all my faith in his ability to write a good plot and likable cast) can see it for it's groundbreaking work perhaps the FF series might have a future. It's less of a revolution and more of a glimmer of hope.
Alas, I have seen the trailers of FFXIII and the future is looking bleak for me. I know FF will continue as long as money can be made from it but in the words of PA's Gabe, "It's just not my Final Fantasy anymore"
True beauty exists in things that last only for a moment.
Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
This game is awesome.
Story - Everything make sense, monster have history, even NPC speech proves correct!!! (One of the Imperial in Nalbina say something of strong wyrm, he means the (SPOILER)Hell Wyrm) (Garif at the entrance of Jahara say something of mist forest [(SPOILER)Feywood] and a wyrm, he means the (SPOILER)Behemoth King. The people who petitioned a mark, actually say something about their hunt before you even accept the hunt.
Gameplay - BEST! I like this fast battle! Like Tales and Star Ocean!! License Board is my favourite system now.
Music: This one sucked but addictive. I like (SPOILER)Paramina Rift, Subterra and Pharos theme etc.
Graphic: Good. FMV = PERFECT.
The Late Owen Macwere Production.
This is definitely my new favorite. My only dissapointment is that X will get less lovin from me.
I fail to see how a plot thats not about some pre-pubescent male and 4 other people saving the world, is dissapointing. I find it a refreshing change of pace.
Leave some shards under the belly
Lay some grease inside my hand
It's a sentimental jury
And the makings of a good plan
I'm glad you guys agree. This game, notice I said game NOT Final Fantasy, sucks!!! The characters suck. The story line is below average. These "Espers" suck. Man, the only thing stopping me from throwing this game to the wall is that it has the name Final Fantasy on the front cover, I paid valuable money for this, and the battle system is straight. But what do I know. I'm just one of many valuable players who love the entire series no matter how bad they are. And for the record, this is the new least to best order. FF9, FFX-2, FF1,FF2, FF3, FF4, FF Tactics, FF5, FF6, FF12,FF11,FF10,FF7,FF8.
