Port Forwarding

I have been trying to learn where to forward my ports but for some reason my router isnt on the port forwarding list here my router is a Thomson SpeedTouch 330 and I was wondering if any of you could teach me how to forward my ports, i need ports both TCP and UDP, 3724, 8080 and 8085 forwarding if anyone could tell me how to do thisid be greatful, thanks in advance.

Try to open http://192.168.1.1 in a web browser. This should let you access your router. Then navigate through whatever menu options exist there until you find port forwarding options. Depending on the type of router you have, you may need some other address (my router for example is 192.168.15.1)

You will need to specify the IP address of the computer you want those ports forwarded to. To find out what your computer's IP address is, open a Command Prompt and type ipconfig. Your computer's IP address is probably something like 192.168.1.???.

Beware that depending on how your router and computer are configured, your computer's IP address may change the next time you reboot. There are ways of working around it but you should focus on getting it working at all first.

I get this question at work a fair bit.

The reason your Speedtouch isn't on the list at portforward.com is that it isn't a router, it's a modem.
Unfortunately, that also means it can't forward ports.

It also means that port management is done by software on your PC. It varies between computer, but it is likely <a href="http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ics/icsconfiguration.htm">ICS</a>, which is very common. Check out the link for help configuring it.

Note: Port mapping == port forwarding.

Note 2: Some modem interface utilities will change ICS or port control for you.

I have a dumb modem that *thinks* it's a router, but it still can't port forward properly. it has a dialog and everything, but it just doesn't work.
