Personally I liked Kuja's Theme quite a bit, but it does get annoying if you listen to it for too long (such as in that location where it's played in a loop).

I see a lot of people not really liking Blue Fields, and I agree that the original is quite dull. But when you listen to the orchestrated version and the piano version, it's quite a good song -- very relaxing.

I think for me, it's the same for the majority of FF8's OST. It wasn't that great, but when you listen to all the other versions, that's when it really kicks off.

I think with a lot of his in-game music, a lot of good ideas and well thought out compositions were made -- but just the way it was implemented and created really wasn't too great. But when you look into why he's done something, or where he's got the influence from, they can be quite interesting. And in order to hear a lot of that you really need to listen to the arranged/orchestrated versions, or even the piano versions.

I really hope one day there's a classical guitar album released for some of the classical guitar pieces you can hear throughout the games that were pretty much ruined by the midi sound module technology back in those days.

"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."

I'll agree with Ome to an extent. I enjoy the orchestrated version of Blue Fields, but I can't say much about the others. Final Fantasy VIII had a lackluster soundtrack for sure, but nothing that jumped out at me as blaringly bad. I just consider the majority of the soundtrack to be mediocre, at best.

I can't think of any songs that I really, strongly dislike off the top of my head. I know there are some (there are certainly songs I skip over when I decide to listen to the soundtracks), but none that bother me so much that they're popping off the top of my head.

    Haha...

I remember getting really tired of that in the long section of the game in which you're moving towards the boat to Costa Del Sol from Juno...

I was repulsed by One Winged Angel. It didn't accomplish much as far as atmosphere goes. Silence and motion may have a decent melody, but the way in which it is executed annoys the hell out of me.

My feelings exactly. Back in the day, a friend and I dubbed it "The Gay Pride Parade" theme (don't ask, I have no idea what was going through our minds...). And when I played FFIX for the first time... hearing that song recycled in that one location was too much for me.

It's been so long since I played that part of FFVIII, so I don't remember the location, but that tune called "The Spy" in the soundtrack. Does anyone else think it sounds sort of... pornoish? Seriously. Ugh.

I cant stand the track from FF9 called forgotten face (first plays when freya thinks of her lost love) and the reason i cant stand it is because it plays the same tune with the same tone over and over and over and over and then i cant stop whistling the damn tune...and its stuck in my head now *sobs*

Wow. So suprised about the amount of FFVII bashing. Every time i play it's mainly for the music, I think it has some of the most beautiful pieces of music created in that game. I find pretty much every piece so nostalgic.

I don't particularly have a least favourite piece but the Chocobo theme pisses me off after a while!!

Nobuo Uematsu is, IMO, a genius of a composer and I think each soundtrack he composed has something worth listening. FFIV's soundtrack is my least favourite. It's not that it's bad, nut it contains two tracks that annoy me the most - 'Giott, the Great King' and 'Samba de Chocobo' (though I normally like the Chocobo theme).

I love this song. It doesn't accomplish much on its own, but it's the perfect complement to the story scenes in which it's used.
I don't find Blue Fields all that bad, and I think the FF8 OST overall is one of the better.

As for worst composition, no song names in particular comes to mind, I'll have to listen through a few OSTs first.

Indeed! LOL it repeats the same thing about 20 times in a minute...

I will go for the Karnak escape too... Holy crap that is awful.. I was also scared to death when you first fight goblins in FFV cuz I thought it was the battle theme...

And the whole FF IX soundtrack was very boring... both battle and boss themes sucked... Specially after the rocking ones from FF VII/VIII

Have you absolutely lost your mind? I have every FF Soundtrack and the IX Soundtrack is definetly one of the best. :mog:

The most annoying id say is, hm..., very hard to find one, I can't find one I don't like at the moment. Actually, i just remembered one that really got on my nerves after a while is the Cloyster of Trials. It drives you insane. It's annoying enough moving those dumb spheres all over the place. :mog:
