The song is so very calm and beautiful that it almost seems out of place. X-2 is chalkful of bubbly, half-ass pop and rock beats, but there are a few tracks that stand out as masterful, and ultimately worthwhile. The opening track is one of these.
It's a relatively simple song, but the method to which it was written and subsequently played is nigh perfect. Calming, quiet, and with enough accents and variations that it does not simply lull one to sleep or thought, but rather brings about a quiet, simple atmosphere. I thought the song was also directed at one's memory, attempting to have the listener pull on nostalgia.
Seeing as Yuna pulls on the past so very often, I do believe that this piece of music is completely succesful.
One of my favourite Final Fantasy works.
