Well, there's Dr. Cid and El Cid in this game (one good, one bad as far as I know from what I've played so far). I prefer Dr. Cid. He's likely to become my favourite Cid. Maybe right after FF VII Cid.
Well..i kinda don't like Doctor Cid, but i think that Al Cid shoud be one of the main party members in the game......oh and, YES!! the FFVII Cid kicked the most ass.
Disclaimer: I am only a little more than half-way through right now.
I think that Dr. Cid is the 'true Cid' of this game because (SPOILER)he has a connection to the airship through Balthier. Now, if this changes later in the game and Al Cid has a connection as well, I take all this back, but at this point, Dr. Cid is the only Cid who is related to the airship. All other Cid's in FF have been connected to the airship, so there.

I like Al-Cid better. He has hair that whooshes for miles and sunglasses you can wear at night and still be cool.
(SPOILER)And I'm not sure I'd call Dr. Cid bad either... His methods are questionable, but didn't he want the power of a God to challenge Gods in the name of a greater freedom?...or something. The villains in FFXII aren't really evil to me... But I tend to empathize with the villain way too much, so everybody can poke me with a stick and call me n00b if they feel so inclined.

I much prefered Cidolfas. He had some very great dialouge, and had some nice motices and means for his evilness. I really like the way they made his character. He's now my new favorite Cid, and new favorite villian.

That was the general intention of the team behind XII, but I still say they're all a bunch of ^holes.
(SPOILER)That's the thing.... every final fantasy makes u get pissed off at villain... I don't think I'm pissed off enough at Vayne. I don't see what's so evil about history being in the hands of man... The Occuria Gods were a**ho**s because they wanted ashe to destroy the whole kingdom. I thought Vayne would want to use nethicite to bring the whole world under his wrath... I was expecting the world before the final battle to be pretty much in ruins like at the second half of ffvi. what do i get? vayne and venat making a huge metal butterfly. i was never a fan of tactics. to me tactics was never even a FF. Tactics was a crystal chronicles. I like good story that pulls you in. One in which you know the characters almost as if they were your friends in real life. This should be called a Tactics.. It's not even the same guy who wrote the story. But despite everything it was fun, vayne was a cool "bad?" guy.
Both Cids rule, but Dr. Cid is my favorite by far. Definitely my favorite Cid, for various reasons that I am too lazy to type out.
Both Cids have been enjoyable.
