I own a 360 and I absolutely love it. I've never enjoyed a console as much as a 360 before - it's like crack. The games are great, and live makes it so much sweeter. I'll be picking up Viva Pinata this week and downloading Lumines Live! aswell.

In my opinion, If I were to purchase a Wii, I'd use it as a secondary console. But for me, I'll stick with just one console - the 360.

By the way, If you pick up a 360, get Oblivion, Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, Viva Pinata, Test Drive Unlimited or Dead Rising - I'll own all of these eventually.

How are you getting Twilight Princess for your dad? Do you live with your dad? If so, you can play with his system then. If you get a Wii, Zelda will Own Your Soul. Don't listen to people who have not played the game enough. "I played it for a 1/2 hour at my friends' house, it wasn't that great" is not a valid analysis of the game. It WILL be the best $300 you've spent (on games) all year, and more than 'warrants a purchase' of the Wii.
Don't get Red Steel, it's more of a rent game.

360 certainly has a great library of games now, so it's a good buy as well. If you have access to the internet and can hook up Xbox Live, you can get a bunch of arcade games (and TV shows/movies now) as well as multiplayer in most games. It's great. Gears of War had me addicted to its multiplayer for quite some time. It's one of the top games on the 360 right now.

However, it must be said that I have barely touched my 360 since I got Zelda, and the one time I did it was to watch a DVD with my girl. It's that good that it supercedes even Gears.

There are still around about 5-6 decent titles that will be coming out for the Wii on Launch.

Really you should think this up on your own back though, after all we don't know what you want, you do. But if you're looking for a few good games to get with your console to play with when you first get it go for a 360.

TLoZ:TP can rack up 80-100 hours gameplay though, & that's quite a bit in gaming standards.

I don't know if I am getting a Wii anymore. It's irritating. I am offering them my cash for it, and I have to fuss about with loads of pre-orders. Now Gamestation guarantee it before Christmas, but if they don't contact me and say I can have it for December the 8th, I'm getting an Xbox 360 and Gears of War, thank you.

Wait, you're just pre-ordering it now, 2 weeks before the thing comes out? I wouldn't be too pissed if they don't call you on Day 1. Unless they just started taking pre-orders, this is something that some people have probably pre-ordered months ago, outselling whatever initial stock they might have.

I don't know how much anticipation there is in your area of England, but you could either get it on the first day or "before Christmas" like they said.

I'd get a 360, the Wii hasnt got much going for it gaming wise in my opinion, other than Zelda ( which isnt that great anyway ). The 360 has a great library and a great line-up ahead.

Well its technically my gamecube (we live together btw) but he's been playing Zelda since the Link to the Past days and I've promised I was going to get this for him for his birthday last year, but when it was delayed until now I'm just getting it for him for christmas.

...Graphics whore. Nintendo's about innovation and that's why the Wii will win. Plus, the Wii's visuals easily match the Xbox's. Oh, wait, most of the 360's visuals only just beat the Xbox's, no?

JKTrix, I tried to pre-order it from Amazon but pre-orders were filled in eight minutes and I was too late... I guess I will just have to hope, but now that I've heard Red Steel is bad, is the Wii launch really that great?

If I can remember correctly yes it's with the side quests. up to a hundred hours of gameplay just on the main mission would be a bit of a pisstake. I was reading in [I think it was ONM] that it took the game testers 60+ hours. & don't forget that they are obviously good at their job, otherwise they wouldn't be in it. So an average gamer would rack up at least 70+. Depending on how good you are at games expect to have at the very least 60 hours worth of gaming.

Wii actually has a pretty good lineup..Zelda and Wii Sports alone will keep me occupied for hours...i played Red Steel and the only thing that suck is theres no neutral button to reset yourself..or another stick to turn you around ...but its not bad the concept. hopefully if theres another it be great.

If you compare Wii to the other 2 systems' launch, it is quite good. There's the cheaper price, of course, which should be taken into consideration. (The following is my own perspective on the launches) A $250 system with one A+ $50 game (and a pack-in), compared to a $500+ PS3 with one $60 'B+/A' game (Resistance), and last year's $300+ 360 with 2 'B+/A' $60 games (Call of Duty, Project Gotham).

Of course, people's tastes are different, but the games listed were the 'stand out' titles of each system's launch. Some people don't like shooters, so PS3's Resistance and 360's call of duty were not selling points. Some people don't like Zelda, so Zelda won't be a selling point for Wii either. Some people don't like racers, so Project Gotham doesn't appeal to them. It depends on your taste.

If you are someone like me who kind of spreads his tastes over almost all genres, the Wii's package is the most appealing. Twilight Princess, despite its 'last gen' roots, is one of the greatest launch games in recent memory. So you get one top quality game for the lowest comparable price. The other games on the system are more 'ups and downs.' Red Steel as you mentioned is a pretty average shooter. I was forced to buy this along with Zelda because they didn't have another game I wanted at the time. DragonBall Z is apparently outstanding once you get over the steep learning curve, so I'm waiting for that to come in here. Trauma Center and Rayman are supposed to be fairly high quality games as well.

I mainly got the Wii just to play Zelda, and I would have been fine with waiting till next year for the other games I'm highly anticipating (Wario Ware, Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros, Crystal Chronicles).

360 has a few games I have yet to complete and PS2 I have several, but Zelda has been at the top of my list for some time. Once I finish with Zelda, I'll be back on the PS2 and 360 for a little while.

Meanwhile, my DS is turned on right now, working through Phoenix Wright 2 and I constantly go back to Elite Beat Agents.

Bottom line, if you already have a PS2, there are quite a few games you can still play. If you have a PS2 and absolutely must get a new system, I'd say get the Wii and just Zelda. Play Zelda, play Wii Sports with your family, then when that's done get back to FF12 and Rogue Galaxy and whatever other awesome titles are still pumping out on the PS2. If you don't have a PS2 and don't have any games to play and you want to get a lot of next gen games right now, 360 would be the best bet out of the sheer quantity of games they have in comparison to the newbies. But the Wii has a blockbuster in Zelda, probably on track to be on several 'game of the year' lists.

    Sad.

I'd buy the wii simply to have a SNES, NES, Sega Genesis, and N64 all in one, and be able to play all the old great games instead of having to seek out the systems and games on ebay.

However, as we all know, its much more than that, and graphics are nothing in my vocabulary, I could care less about them.
