PS3 launched!

i was surfing play asia and you never guess what i saw! a japanese PS3 for sale! apparently the PS3 was released on november 11th (remembrance day) and will be released in america on friday! just to confirm these dates and the realease (ive been jerked around by many websites trying to sell me unrealeased consoles) i trotted over to wikipedia and this is what it said

The PlayStation 3 will be released in North America on November 17, 2006. Ken Kutaragi has stated that the PlayStation 3 will launch on March 7, 2007 in Europe. According to Gamespot.com 88,400 PS3 systems were sold in Japan during the launch. Playstation 3 launch was also hampered by shortages in Japan.([3])

Sony recently announced to retailers like Gamestop that for the American release, stores would only get between 200,000 - 250,000 units rather than the 400,000 they promised would ship for launch day.[39] Gamestop/EB and other retailers have responded by placing embargoes on employee pre-ordered purchases, trying to free up as many units as possible to avoid irate pre-order customers angry at not receiving promised goods.

Its hard to believe the PS3 has already launched, but props to Sony for giving a fairly good launch, even though its nothing but havoc down every electronic store...

Nope, if there are less units to buy, it's easy to say 'all sold out!', which equals success apparently. Ask Microsoft.

Sony have worked hard for the PS3, they have had to sit through a ton a crap about their console. Having a successful launch is what they deserve.
