hey all..ok im walkin on the Phon coast, passed it came to the Thect Highlands or sumtin, i talked to a little boy that gave me a hunt thing with a scribble lookin monster an im in this weird cave, am i goin the right direction twards Arcadies??

Yes. Archades is just beyond Sochen Cave Palace.
Yes. That hunt is mandatory to progress in the game, as far as I know.
After you defeat the Mandragoras, you should return to the boy and get 1000 gil and some Remedies. Or you could just leave him........
