You don't have to face the first Demon Wall, just flee to the other room and "tiptoe" back to the way stone after you get the Dawn shard.
Leave this pesky wall for later in the game. Or never, it is optional, I think.
Do level up a bit though. I recommend going through Ogir Yensa and Nam Yensa chaining on Urutan, until you get to the same level as Vossler.
A good rule of thumb is to level till you are the same level as your guest, so you are prepared for the next mission
