Default So are the new Jobs worth using?

I'll be getting FF V Advance soon and I was wondering if the new Jobs are worth using? In the original game, my party set up like this

Bartz - Knight, Mystic Knight, Lancer, Mimic
Reina(or Lenna) - White Mage, Time Mage, Blue Mage, Mimic
Galuf/Krile - Black Mage, Summoner, Geomancer, Mimic
Faris - Monk, Ninja, Samurai, Mimic

This is the same party setup I'm gonna use when I get the GBA version. However, if the new classes are worth using, I will make some changes

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Gladiator's Finisher move is EXTREMELY powerful, but balanced with about a 1/3 of doing nothing. Cannoneer is pretty okay, but I've yet to play it extensively. Nothing to write home about. Oracle has it's perks, but more useful for it's ability to reduce Enemy encounters.

gladiator isn't that special. finisher is nice I guess, but it's not like you can't kick ass without it. the slash-all skill or whatever it's called is really useful, though.

    cannoneer is fun.

i haven't done the new dungeon yet so maybe the new classes are good for it.

I definetly reccomend collecting everything for the Necromancer.

or at least gathering kills for the spells that counts

They don't offer anything that can't be done better with existing job combinations. Nothing can ever beat dualwield + rapidfire (and spellblade for certain bosses).

For the sake of mastering all of the available classes, yes, they are useful. Having the option to use a variety of skills and try out different strategies is always a good thing. But they are pretty optional and don't really add a whole lot of anything else.

the necromancer definetly seems worth using and the gladiator seems very powerful.

i have yet to see a great use for the oracle. other than killing your party, what does it do? does it have attacks that dont kill you or ways to absorb damage from the attacks by equipping the right items?

and cannoneer certainly doesn't seem a bad class.

Are you trying to say the new Jobs aren't worth using, or just that they aren't overpowered? The latter is actually a good thing if the Jobs are well balanced.

They aren't really over or underpowered, they just have very few things that warrants choosing them over a different job. If you want damage dealing, none of the new jobs can even touch Rapidfire+dualwield. If you want support, none of the new jobs are close to dualcast+white or time+white.

Until you have a few jobs mastered, I suppose gladiator would be good on its own, maybe cannoneer too. I never found a good use for oracles. However, chances are that you have quite a few jobs mastered at the time you get the extra jobs. The most useful abilities the new jobs offer are exp up and read ahead. The first boosts exp by 50%, the latter reduces enemy encounters by a lot.

I haven't tried necromancer yet though, because I haven't even found it :p.

Wow...I just got the Necromancer last night...it's first skill (Drain Touch, which by the time you get it, ought to be familiar...) is bloody powerful.

    Many thanks Christmas!
