Even so, his skills more so represent a sage with ability to cast both white and blacks spells up to the strongest of them. I think they just decided to rename his sage class as Lunarian so people would realize he's not human. Also, in FFVI, Mog's class and race are both Moguri, and Umaro's are both (abominable) Snowman.
And where was this at by the way? I've never heard they had thier own classes in the game. Unless I missed it blatantly in the game (which I seem to have a tendancy to do in most games >.>), I'm assuming it's in an art book or some such extra thing? Hmmm I'm curious now to see what they classify Locke as. >.>
