Dont you hate it when a band replaces the singer? I mean today I listened to Morbid Angel the first time without David Vincent as a singer and I thought it sucked! So, do you like it when bands you listen to get a new singer?

The only time that this has worked has been with AC/DC.

Hmmm, I guess this would have to depend on the band and the replaced and new singer. Take Killswitch Engage as an example, I really like the new singer over the old one. The older one wasn't bad by any means, I just like their new singer better. I know Fuel is getting a new singer, not sure who though and I really liked their first singer. Guess I'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Queen got a new singer and everyone forgot about them. Nobody will ever ever ever be able to replace Freddy Mercury.

Nope. I hate it when a band replaces the singer with someone that sucks.

Anthrax also went downhill after a vocalist change.

Let's face it; John Bush has NOTHING on Joey Belladonna. I'm glad Belladonna's back in Anthrax.

Same thing with Arch Enemy, I can't stand the chick they got to replace Johan Liiva. She sounds all hardcore and ...until someone strips out the synthesizer on her vocals.

Am I the baddest? Am I the greatest?

Sometimes it can't be helped, but I think that if you must replace such an important part of a band, you might as well also replace your name.

Yeah.

In fact, I've heard bands with sub-par singers, but still enjoyed the music. And when the singer gets replaced by somebody better (in theory), the sound still comes out different enough with the new vocalist that I can't appreciate the oloder songs anymore.

It depends on whether or not the new singer is better than the old singer

Not all changes are bad. When Faith No More replaced their mid-80s vocalist with the great Mike Patton, the groups general output improved ten-fold.

It really depends on the group. Sometimes a band's whole MO changes, and it can alienate some fans, other times not much changes. The frontman does play a significant role, especially if he has a large hand in writing the music/lyrics.

Definately preferable (Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Velvet Revolver etc.)
There is no signature here. Move along.

Audioslave and Velvet Revolver weren't just cases or replacing the singers, the respectives bands were defunct at that point.
