Thread: Touch Pad

    Default Touch Pad

On my Lap top My little touch pad to use the mouse isnt working. During the Screen where I type in my password to open my profile it works, but when then it says something about Error Loading Plugins, and stops working.
Originally I didn't care since I had a mouse, but recently I knocked my USB ports a bit loose, and it keeps not reading the mouse. Since I can't get that fixed right now, how do I get this touch Pad working?

Your laptop probably comes with a driver CD. That probably has the drivers for the touch pad on it. Try running the CD and seeing if there's a simple way to reinstall the touch pad driver.

Right now thats not an option, as my CD is half way across the state, and I don't have a way to get it back fro a while. If I create a backup
do you think it would let me reinstall it?

What sort of laptop do you have (maker and model #)? You can often find specific drivers on the web on the manufacturer's site.

I know its Toshiba, not sure of the Model number. Where exactly would I find the number, or do you know where I can look for the Driver?

The model number is often reported on the bottom of the laptop. There should be a sticker or engraving with the serial number and model number.

    Then go here:

Select that model number and info, and it should give you a link to downloads for that product.

Finally got of my but and installed it, but it still didn't work. Thanks though, I can probably make use of that site latter.

    Any other Ideas?

Does the laptop have any shortcut keys to turn the touchpad on and off?

For example, on mine, fn+F7 enables and disables the it.

Can't find a FN command to change it.

Most laptops have an "fn" key to enable second functions of other keys.

Usually it's between the left ctrl and alt keys:

I know where my FN Key is, I meant I can't find a command on it anywhere to turn the Touchpad on or Off, It tried it with all the F's, and anything else that I could find with a FN command.
