Actually Red Is 16 in red years and 50 in human years, otherwise he wouldn't be alive (SPOILER) 500 years later

    And who is Mukki
No, red is 16 in human years, which is why he was being treated like a child by his "grand father" in which his arguement was, but I'm 48 (or forty six). To which his grandfather replied, Not in human years. or something of that sort.

Go make a sandwich with that meat and bread. If you don't want it, I'll take it.

Yes, I think he was trying to breed them.

Maybe it was some kind of mako induced mating

What are you basing that on, dog years? As far as i'm aware Nanaki was not a dog.

No, that's being based on In-game dialogue that goes as follows:

Red XIII: Please stop, grandfather. I'm 48.
Bugenhagen: Ho Ho Hoooo. Nanaki's tribe has incredible longevity. So you see his 48 years would only be equivalent to say that of a 15 or 16 years old in human reckoning.
    Cloud: 15 or 16!?
Bugenhagen: He's quiet and very deep. You thought he was an adult?

And he is rather wolf-like in both appearance and behavior (as in howling at the moon).

The context of this dialogue in the game is that Red is 48 years, as in cycles of the calender, old. But due to the longevity of his tribe it is like he is 15 or 16. Look at it this way, say the average lifespan of a human is 100 years, at age 15 a human would have lived out 15% of their lives. What this dialogue is saying is at 48 human years Red has only lived approximately 15 or 16% of his expected lifespan.

That's how I've always seen it, and agree with it completely. The only problem is that if 48 years is 15% of his lifespan, 100% is 320 years. However, he's shown 500 years later looking in good health. Something doesn't add up.

In fact, it should be more like 255 years. The average life span of a human is about 80 years, that's 5.3 times as much as 15. 48 * 5.3 is ~255. This means that Nanaki being over 550 years would be equal to a human being over 170 years. This is quite improbable, unless the average life expectancy in Gaea is 180 years, and that would be a pretty baseless assumption.

I don't think that part of the scene was trying to imply that Nanaki's 'tribe' had three times the lifespan of humans, just that Nanaki was in the stage between being a child and an adult. After all, if you take the dialogue literally, Bugenhagen is a direct ancestor of Nanaki. My theory is that Nanaki's lifespan is exponentially higher than humans, so that his maturity is equal to a human a third of his age now, but that could increase to 10 times or more by the end of his life.
    This is a signature.

Bugenhagen was approaching 130. Maybe those with legs last another 50 years or so.

It's FFVII. They screwed enough things up with the story that basic math was the least of their worries.

    there's one thing i don't get,
Where did he get a mate to have cubs NOTE:NEVER PLAYED Derge of ceribus.
Also I've always thaught that 500 was the first number the wirter's thought up that they could use. That or it was miss translation.

When Bugenhagen said Nanaki was the last of his kind, he was mistaken.

I don't think 500 years is a mistranslation. If it were, AC wouldn't have 498 years earlier at the beginning.
