Default I can't believe I'm already asking for help!

Alright I have a bit of a problem. I got DoS for Christmas and have started an FFI file. There is one little problem I am having... I got the ship from that pirate... but now I have no idea where to go! I saw an FAQ saying that I should go to the Earth Cavern, but according to a map of FFI's world I found the Earth Cavern is unacessable. So now I kindly ask...

Where the H E double hocky sticks am I suppose to go?

Go southwest until you reach a large forested area, you'll find Elfland there. That is your next destination.

If you're used to the progression of the later installments of the Final Fantasy series you can expect to be confused a lot of the time as to where you're supposed to go next, in the earlier games that information was not spoonfed to you like it is now. Don't feel stupid, feel spoiled.

No, I feel stupid because I already went there, went to the marsh cave, and couldn't get through a door because I needed a mystic key, so I then assumed I went the wrong way and needed to return at a later time because I didn't have the key yet. Now (because you told me to) I went back did more exploring in the cave, found the crown, gave it to the king, beat the evil elf king, and used the crystal eye to get the potion, and then woke up the prince to get the key. *gasps for breath*

To sum all of the crap up, I felt stupid because I assumed I needed the reward for beating that part, to beat that part.

So far I find the game pretty fun, you have to remember the things people tell you so you know where to go next, which can either make you very lost or make it so you zoom right through.
Right now I'm at the Earth Cavern, and I just beat the Vampire, now I wonder am I suppose to leave or find a way through that panel?

Did you find a Ruby (or maybe it's called Star Ruby) in the area where the Vampire was? You need to give that to the giant in a cave northwest of Melmond, if I recall correctly. He'll let you through the cave, which leads to a sage named Sarda, who tells you what you have to do next.

But it's been awhile, so I might be a bit off.

more west/southwest, but close enough =)
The linear nature of the game dictates that there are a limited number of places you can go at any one time. So if you explore enough you'll always find where you need to be. If you go through one dungeon, complete it and the story doesn't progress look on the map for other nearby dungeons that you haven't explored. This is especially the case when you find a key item in a dungeon. Usually that implies that you're done there(at least for the moment) and you need to find somewhere new to go. It doesn't hurt to leave and have to come back if you were wrong, because you need to keep up a steady flow of exp anyways.

Quick question is there anything like a fat chocobo in this game, so I can store extra items?

No but, if I remember correctly, you don't ever run out of space in the items in the DoS version, so you won't need anything like the Fat Chocobo.

You don't need one. There's really no limit on inventory.

Except for equipment, where each character can only carry four weapons and four items of clothing, equipped or not.

    (Reads back through the topic)

    Ah, DoS. Never mind ^_^
