Name changes that result in cool conversations...
Alright, did you ever name the chars in a way that makes the conversations seem positively crazy?
Here are my two cents:
CLOUD = SHUT UP
"Didn't catch your name..."
"Shut up."
"Shut up, eh? I'm..."
"I don't care what your names are."
CAIT SITH = SEPHIROTH
"I'm a fortune telling machine, and I'm: Sephiroth."
"OK, then could you please tell me where this guy named Sephiroth is?"
"Ah! alright! Wait a sec..."

I always thought it would be amusing to name everyone Sephiroth in one game and see where the dialouge went from there.

If you're immature like I am, you name Yuffie "Bitch" to get things like "Bitch took our materia!" and "You'll never beat me and climb this tower Bitch!"

don't have an example, but I like changing everyone's names to pronouns like you he she it etc. Thats gives some good moments now and then

Also, if you do this, and bring Red XIII to the fight with Palmer, when they introduce themselves:
"I am Nanaki, also known as Nanaki."
(or something like that, maybe "I'm Nanaki, but everyone calls me Nanaki.")
I named everyone Aeris once, it made for a unique dialogue when Sephiroth kills Aeris.

Naming everyone Sephiroth also makes for some neat dialogue.
Don't use Vincent for either of these. If you do, it's easier to understand, and not as funny.

Rename Cloud as Boy to get this conversation:
Dio: Hey boy.
Boy: Boy...
Dio: How is it? You having fun? Mmm, so, you ARE having fun. Well, good, good for you boy.
Boy: My name's Boy. And stop calling me boy.
Dio: Mmm? Me? I'm the owner of the Gold Saucer. The name's Dio. Just call me 'Dio'.
Boy: ...... (Not even listening.)
This is a signature.
Rename Cait Sith: ShinraSpy
You get something like: "I can't believe ShinraSpy was a Shinra spy"
