Well, looks we’ve finally reached the end eh? Best Member. This is EoFF’s highest honor, meaning that more people like this one person than the others, unless they lied when they voted. First let me say that if you’ve been keeping up with these Ciddies from the start until this point, I salute you and question you sanity. But that’s beside the point, which I will get to after a short history lesson.
Thanks to the gravity and importance that seems to surround it, the past winners of this Ciddie are some pretty big names around here -Cid, Acmlm, Nino Brown, and Scottie all took this back when these were known as The EoFF Awards, before the Ciddies came to be. From the first official Ciddies, Dr Unne looked to be nigh unstoppable, taking the award an unprecedented five consecutive time over the course of two and a half years. However, as they say, the winds of change were about to blow. December of 2003 saw the good doctor sitting back in 5th place, with Loony BoB taking his first win, only to concede it to Del Murder the next time. This was followed by a four Ciddies steak for BoB, placing him ever closer to tying Dr Unne, something that may happen today. Soon we will see if BoB joins Unne, of if one of his many challengers will take it from him. In stark contrast to the previous Ciddies, the nominees here include two Administrators (one being a member of the Senior Staff Site), one Site Staffer, and a Former Staff member. In addition, we have two Veterans, three Regulars, and two Newbies (at least, if you go by AG’s Official Ciddies Standards). All of these fine folks have made it past the arduous nomination step, making it here. Before we get to the actual award (and to buy AG some down time while you read the rest of this), here’s some info regard your nominees.
Known for a while as Unknowns,
Christmas is most likely known for her endearing and magical art style, her little blue waving avatar, and her HATE of a certain Stormtrooper. Often referring to her NANNY MANUS, Christmas has recently been working on a dramatization of what would happen if EoFF had a Civil War, compiling her data from scattered Word documents and rare Paint art, ensuring that her graphic novel tells an accurate account of this possible event. In the running for seventeen Ciddies this time around, Christmas would certainly like to have this one be one of her wins. Will the voters feel the same way?
DK’s avatar scares me.
Still, it’s hard to deny his abilities as a member of the Site Staff, the only one up for Best Member. Formerly known (most recently) as Kyono, DK is constantly helping to keep those of us who actually check the front site updated on the goings on in the World of Square. One of the most famous signature makers on EoFF, Kyono is also known for his somewhat boisterous attitude, most likely a result of his interesting life. After all, not everyone can say that they’ve used EoFF members as prostitutes in order to make money and go to Japan. A man of many talents and names, DK certainly ahs a strong shot at being the winner of this Ciddie.
Evastio can be found more often than not in the Final Fantasy IV forum, if not there then General Chat. A big fan of the game and Cecil especially, Evastio is one of the “Newbies” up for this award. Despite this title, he has definitely made himself known in his months here. A sprite maker of good repute, he always seem to help when he can and provide us with a myriad of questions that run the gamut from the weapon of FFIV villain Golbeza to whether or not a member logs out manually. Certainly an interesting individual, Evastio is somewhat of a darj horse here, going up against some of the big names in present EoFF. All this means, however, is that a win for him would be a tremendous and definitely memorable upset.
It’s been a big six months for EoFF’s most well-known cat lover. Since her victory in the Best Cid’s Knight Category in the Summer ’06 Ciddies,
Leeza has been promoted to Administrator and continued her reign as one of the forums most productive staff members. Possessing an ability to bring the wildest of topics back to reality, she is often said to take pleasure out of doling out punishment. However, those who know her will attest that she is a caring friend and counselor who is willing to share some of her wisdom with anyone who asks. Up again for the Nicest and Evilest Member Ciddies, she shows great diverseness and versatility around the forums, making her victory here tonight entirely possible.
Levian has also had an eventful time since the last Ciddies. The most recent addition to the Knights, he took over for Leeza after her promotion to Admin. While often showing off his light-hearted side, most know that Levian, like most people, takes things seriously when the need arises, and his judgement has certainly been a welcome addition to the staff. A sly gypsy from Norway, Levian has been up for the Ciddies before, finally winning his first one last time (it was [b]MLT Win a Ciddie for the very first time[b], which seems rather appropriate). Now, with a trail of closed threads and moderated members left in his two month wake of Knighthood, Levian has his sights set on jumping straight to the big one and taking Best Member, and like everyone else on this list, he deserves it. So can this new Knight take the crown from the others?
Loony BoB is a still a git, but a darn good one at that. An Aucklander turned UKer, BoB is undoubtedly one of the driving forces behind the current EoFF. Starter of such things as the current Site Staff Layout and the EoFF World Map, BoB also founded the Ciddies (earlier the EoFF Awards) and helped with things like the Art Gallery and the EoFF Wiki. He’s also rather infamous for his naughty calendar (usually seen in pictures in the Ciddies Revelations threads, so you probably saw one earlier) and his various online “girlfriends” (poor fellow
still doesn’t know that girls can’t work the internet), as well as his never changing Chocobo avatar (other than RSL day and stuff, of course). At the heart though, BoB is a great caring guy who will most likely always be here and who always seems to be available to listen to ideas. Having won this award for the past four Ciddies, BoB stands a good shot of making this magic number five.
Possible on of the most important things you need to know about
LunarWeaver is that loves small children from anime. Aside from that, he also apparently loves coffee and cats, as can often be seen by his widespread use of
. Rarely making any sort of sense, Lunar is probably pretty tired right about now, what with Roto weeping outside his window at all hours of the night. While he didn’t really become active until about a year after registering, he ahs steadily began to rise up into the general public mind, often seen around nowadays in an assortment of threads. He claims that his dream is to die in an airplane bathroom via suffocation, but I’m pretty sure a Best Member Ciddie is close behind it. Will he get it tonight?

Psychotic. What’s the point of doing this paragraph, most of you already know more about this Liverpool fan then you’ll ever need to. In all seriousness though, Psychotic has set the stage for a possible overthrow of this mortal enemy BoB in this Ciddie. Almost always the favorite to become the next new Best Member at EoFF, Psychotic now marches on with a belt load of Knight experience under his belt, all while retaining his usual wit and charm. Wildly popular with the teeming (and unbathed) masses Psychotic probably has a friend in every corner of EoFF, if not several. With his level head and clear thinking, Psychotic looks to once again give BoB a run for his money. Besides, he only lost this award last Ciddies by a single vote, and with the constantly changing sea of members that make up EoFF, this could easily be his moment.
Roto13 must be a serious Harrison Ford fan. Maybe he is Harrison Ford. Either way, Roto has become instantly recognizable thanks to his tendency to feature the actor in his signature and avatar. However, that isn’t the only thing this Regular is known for. Featuring a beard that some have said is up there with RSL’s famous one, Roto become very well-known in the little over a year he’s been here. Outspoken and opinionated, Roto has been banned from Eyes on Each Other a number of times, but these seem to have little effect on him, other than making him wait to jump back in the fray. Still, everyone knows that it’s hard to not like Roto, and this fact can certainly make things interesting tonight.
RSL is probably one of the nicest people you’d ever meet. This lovable Former Staffer recently popped in after a three month missing period to wish everyone a Happy RSL Day. Most well-known for his excellent beard, RSL may look a little gruff at first, but there’s no hiding the fact that he’s a big softie in the best sense of the word. Some may discount him in this due to his lack of recent posting and resignation from the Staff, but many of the older members hold a spot in their hearts for this Eeyore loving lumberjack. Will RSL’s numerous fans succeed in their bid for him to win this coveted Ciddie?
Good lord, what can I say about
The Captain? In the interest of keeping this brief, I’ll just go with the basics. Though he’s quick to shrug of his admirers praises by claiming he’s just another fellow, anyone who sees him in action is sure to know the truth is quite to the contrary. An eloquent and sophisticated debater, The Captain has yet to do anything mean at EOFF. Ever. Even when he disagrees with someone, he does so in such polite way that it’s almost hard to believe. This true gentleman is no stranger to the Ciddies, having won such awards as Best Veteran and Nicest Member, but will he be able to score a win at the biggest prize of all?
Having stepped down from the Site Staff,
theundeadhero is making yet another appearance in the finals for Best Member. An extremely hard worker here at EoFF, hero was a great asset to the Staff while a member, and since his leaving more than one Staff member has expressed a desire for him to return. Striving to help keep Eyeson interesting, hero has hosted such events as the Battle of the Bands, the EoFF RPG Giveaway contest (which featured some pretty sweet prizes from hero's own collection), and his valiant attempt at the Civil War. Like Christmas, hero is a Paint artist at heart, and occasionally graces the forums with a new adventure of Sandwich Man. A soldier/pope who has put a lot of effort into EoFF over the years, theundeadhero will hopefully stick with us for a long time. But will he also take home this Ciddie? We’ll soon find out.
An extraordinary artist,
Traffic has been here for a little over a year and already has his sights set on the Best Member Ciddie. A passionate lover of Final Fantasy VIII, he has also become very integral to the EoFF community in the relatively short time that he’s been here. These Ciddies have been Traffic’s first taste of what it’s like to be nominated, and if his three categories are any indication we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future. It would be nice to mark the first time with a Best Member Ciddie though, right?
Well, each of these members has a fair an excellent chance here. Hopefully I’ve stalled enough for AG to catch a quick nap and get ready to do his presenting. I somehow get the feeling that it will be one by one as always. Before I go and you all get to see the results though, I’ve been wondering something. If Award Guy is BoB, and BoB is up for this ward, and no one but Award Guy knows the vote tally, couldn’t this Ciddie be ri -- *shot by sniper*
