You could always just buy him a new CD and pretend it's the old one, if you really don't wanna tell him ^_^ Providing that you have the moneys :3
Was it damaged before, and if so, how badly?
Would it be possible to say it was like that when you found it?
Does your dad believe in aliens?
Would he believe you if you blamed aliens?
Does the CD still work?
If the answer is no to all of the above (or yes, badly to the first), or if you just want to do the right thing, then
Otherwise make up some elaborate lie about aliens storming the library in a futile attempt to erradicate the written word from you area and his poor CD was caught in the crossfire.
