The first time I ever heard Bruce Springsteen, fittingly, I was driving to New Jersey on my way to work at 6am. The song was "Racing In The Street" and as I drove, the music and words just washed over me and for an instant, I saw my life flash before me. Now if anyone knows that song, it's a very sad song, so I hope that this isn't some omen of a sad life, but the pathos of the song, the lyrics and how very real they felt to me, it haunted me frankly. I spent all day at work thinking about it and when I was released, stopped at a local Best Buy to pick up whatever Springsteen albums they had. Then, for the entire 2 hour ride home, I rapidly became a lifelong fan of The Boss.
For whatever reason, I'd always been aware of his music but had never really listened to it. Now, I wonder why I waited so long.
Take care all.
