First Time Listening to your Favorite Band~

The first time I remember actually listening was when she was watching PULSE, and called me in to see Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

Wow, that must have been pretty recent. It's nice to see that the influence that is Floyd is still spreading today!

Yes, it is. I had never really got into Floyd until about a year and a half ago. And they just blew my mind away. Pretty much dark side of the moon until the final cut is just awsome. To me atleast.

My current favorite band is The Allman Brothers. I can't tell you the first time I experienced their music because I've grown up listening to it. I can remember the song that turned my head to them and made me pay attention. A couple of years ago I was driving home from work with my daddy and Whipping Post was on the classic rock station. The lyrics and vocals are so raw and the music was just so desperate and heavy. It made an impression. So now I love them. Go me!

Mine's pretty dull, really. Borrowed a few Megadeth albums (Rust in Peace, Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings from a friend, and loved them. Not all that interesting, was it?

I had experienced something similiar, but with the song 'One step up' from him. I was visiting my cousins for the night, and seeing as how they listen to Bruce all the time, i heard this song playing from the CD player that i just loved it, instantly. I went upto the bedroom with a CD walkman and the Tunnel of Love album and put the song on repeat for the night. There's something amazing about the song, it just sticks with you. I do believe that is Springsteen's best trait, he is a musician for the people (probably unlike Cash or Dylan in that way).

I still listen to Bruce alot today, and he is one of my favourite musicians."



It took me longer to get into Tunnel Of Love and his other post E Street Band albums, save for Nebraska, but I can say that I now love them all and that song is indeed another one that can stick with you. I could write endlessly on why Bruce is so inspiring and a large part is the fact that his music connects to the everyman, that somehow, his songs seem to cut right to the heart of the human experience, the good AND the bad, and not the melodramatic bad, but the common, hard-working bad, when you're working so hard and just barely making ends meet. Few artists have ever found a way to make that struggle so epic and truthful. For my money, he'll always be the best at it.

Ah, the Allman Brothers. Live At Fillmore may well be the greatest live album of all time.

I have two I'll mention.

My favorite band has to be The Pillows. I was first introduced to them through FLCL quite a few years ago (watched a fansub).

The scene in the second episode where Canti is exploring the old school house while Mimi follows him has this beautiful garage band song called "Hybrid Rainbow". It was the first time I ever listened to them and I instantly fell in love. That entire scene with the song is just haunting and beautiful.

My next favorite is a singer, now I like the Boss (I love "Streets of Philidelphia") but my favorite still has to be Billy Joel. Growing up in a house that only played old country, Billy Joel was my first introduction to Rock n' Roll. I was eight at the time and my mother bought his Greatest Hits collection so she could listen to "Uptown Girl".

I listened to that album almost everyday for two years. While other kids were talking about Guns n' Roses and before even Nirvana hit the airwaves, I was humming "Piano Man" or singing "Movin Out". He still is one of my favorite musicians even after all these years. I can still sing along to every song on his Greatest Hits album.

I have quite an old memory of when I first heard Blink 182 though, who were my favourite band throughout my end of school and college life (and still have a special place in my heart <3). Some guy brought the CD Enema of the State and played it in our Art lesson at school. I thought it was great and then went and got all the CDs!

I hated it, but i changed my minded when a friend of mine made me listen to S&M. Been a fan after that

The first time I listened to my favorite band Killswitch Engage was when I was 15 on MTV2, it was the video for thier song 'My Last Serenade' I loved it!
