Desktop help

Okay. So it started when I put an image as my background. I did the right click and 'set as desktop background'. When I decided to change it, it wouldn't change. And when I go to properties to try and put one of the defult backgrounds as my desktop, it wont let me click on them. The only thing I can change is the color that my background is, I can't do anything else. Anyone know how to fix this?
