Thread: Neverwinter Nights 2 anyone?

    Default Neverwinter Nights 2 anyone?

I'm playing it and loving it. The party system is more interactive than the original and its probably the most enjoyable D&D experience I've ever had on my PC. It's also got a really great editor so you can create your own adventures, its very user friendly. I'm curious how many of you have played it? Here's a review in case you're curious.

I've played it, I like it, but the framerate kills it for me.

I don't know how I feel about it yet. The camera pisses me right off, and all the characters are so damn ugly they remind me of the 3D porn games Something Awful makes fun of. A lot of things about it just seem half-assed.

Also, I'm playing it along with my husband and his brother, and there are some seriously annoying issues with multiplayer. Like when one person talks to an NPC, the others have to sit and watch the conversation and wait for it to end. Can't do anything at all. Freaking annoying.

Neverwinter Nights 1, I think, was much better in most ways.

Framerate does suck really bad and I'm seeing that to be a problem with most current next-gen games. It runs pretty well on my pc but I have a 64 bit dual core, 2 gigs of ram, and a 6800. From what I understand, the latest patch actually improves the framerate and there's more updated art content.

Regardless of most of the complaints I've heard about nwn2, I still think it's far superior to the original. Why? It's just way more fun.

My boyfriend is obsessed with it. Like he is obsessed with NWN1 ^_^ I tried NWN1 and I didn't like it... It was too dark and not cute enough for me, plus kinda confusing *_* Haha, then, I play the girly cute games like Ragnarok Online and Flyff. T_T

love it. i'm on my second playthrough and it's pretty cool to play evil. i am glad the devs took all the goodness of the KOTOR games and incorporated them into this one. the graphics are ugly, true, but i have never been that into graphics over gameplay. since i'm a huge D&D nerd, the attention to detail with the 3.5 ed. rules is good, though a true conversion as was seen with TOEE would have been much more enjoyable to me personally.

i hope expansions come out soon with new monster templates!!!!

i'm currently making one of my old modules that i designed for the PnP game and it's just too hard without a lot of the monsters...i have to substitute a lot!

Monster templates, so we could play the other races that make up the Forgotten Realms? Yeah, that'd kick some serious ass right there. I also wouldn't mind Obsidian getting in touch with the PRC Consortium group so we could sneak in some user created content without resorting to out of game programs to create character files. That would totally r0x0r.

NWN 2 kills the first game... I have the framrate problem hardcore, though. It's only really bad in the swamp, however. I've turned down the draw distance, zapped reflection, multi point lighting, multiple shadows... I got it to 'playable' but not 'good'. What ticks me off is that the games internal tool says I should be fine running it at full tilt-I'm getting sick of devs LIEING about recommended specs. I meet and beat most of those specs and the game still runs like crap-that's flat out wrong.

Neverwinter Nights 2 pales in comparison to Neverwinter Nights 1. It kinda gets really boring into the game working for (SPOILER)The Watch in the docks district, then having to go to Old Owl well and run through all those orcs and that crazy imposter emassery guy Wiether as Neverwinter Night 1 had a much better storyline like (SPOILER)When Arbeth or whatever her name was turnd bad because king nasher executed Fredrick her fiancee and the battles were a lot more fun too, the atmousphere rled the came in my opinion.

I never played Neverwinter Nights, so I don't really have anything to compare Neverwinter Nights 2 to. I played for a couple hours last night and I'm finding it really hard to stay interested. The main problem is that the game feels unfinished and clunky, sort of like I'm using some sort of strange 3D application with a game running on top of it.

The game itself sort of reminds me of a cross between Dungeon Siege and Ultima, and against my retro love for the Ultima series, Neverwinter Nights 2 has not really done anything for me yet.

The cutscenes are pretty bad, and the ultra high system specs required are most certainly not reflected in the look or performance of the game. It's actually really funny because so far the game has had amazingly good music, which makes the story sequences that much more underwhelming. I spent most of the time thinking "God, this song is way too good for what's going on, here."

I can't really say much for the story yet as I haven't ventured too far into it, but so far it's reminded me of a typical D&D campaign which is neither great nor bad, just par for the course.

I might give it another go soon, if my opinion changes I'll be sure to say so.
